OptoSci, a spin out from the University of Strathclyde, has supplied photonics products for the Education & Research market since 1994. More recently the Glasgow based company has developed some novel photonics based gas sensing technology based and has 2 excellent new products.
OptoMole is an award winning, mobile gas monitoring system designed to help Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs) quickly and accurately locate leaks from underground gas mains, reducing excavation and repair costs.
OptoSniff is a fixed, multipoint gas detection system based on the underlying detection principle of near-infrared tuneable diode laser spectroscopy (near IR TDLS). The OptoSniff suite can be adapted to suit numerous industrial and research applications.
Paul commented… ‘It is an exciting time for OptoSci and I am delighted to be joining the team. I am very impressed with the products and capabilities at OptoSci. The gas sensing technology is extremely well engineered and has many significant ‘real world’ applications. OptoMole is already helping Britain’s Gas companies to accurately locate leaks, with units in use on a daily basis. During my time with SIFAM Fibre Optics and Gooch and Housego I was fortunate enough to experience several significant growth phases and believe I will be able to help with the development of the business at OptoSci’
