Douglas Walsh has successfully managed and directed the growth and development of OptoSci, since its start-up in 1994, to its position today as a leading producer of innovative optoelectronic systems for various international markets. At OptoSci he has prime responsibility for the business management, sales and marketing, finances and also contributes to the technical development of its products. He has successfully managed several internal and collaborative projects from concept and market analysis, through to product market entry and commercial exploitation. Previously (1988-1994), he worked on contract research in the Optoelectronics Division at the University of Strathclyde. He received a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 1992 for research conducted in the field of optically actuated silicon microresonant transducers, and a BSc(Hons) Degree in Physics from University College Dublin in 1988. Dr. Walsh has published over 30 technical papers and a patent.
